Dewan Bahadur Latthe Foundation Annasaheb Latthe was a dynamic multi talented leader who served our country as first Finance Minister of Mumbai . He also served as Dewan of Kolhapur serving Chatrapati Shashu Maharaj. As Dewan of Kolhapur State he brought about fundamental changes In welfare of underprivileged and downtrodden population . He brought the first law in the country to ban child marriages to bring about social reform. He established hostels at Kolhapur, Sangli and Belgaum to help students from rural areas to gain higher education .

He became the staunch advocate of Satya Shodhak Movement when the movement started at Kolhapur in 1911 and was transformed into a political movement in 1916. The basis of Mahatma Phule’s teaching was that education of masses was the panacea for all social evils. Latthe did a remarkable work during his tenure as Education Inspector in Kolhapur from 1911 to 1914 for the spread of education. During this period Shahu launched the movement of mass education and Shri Latthe justly piloted Shri Shahu’s scheme of education.

To revive his vision and work in modern times , Dr Bharat Latthe established Dewan Bahadur Latthe Foundation in USA in 2018, in with a burning desire to serve Mother India in the field of Education and Global warming.
